Part 2 – Social Media Back to Basics Series.
One of the biggest mistakes small businesses make with social media?
Trying to be everywhere at once.
Each platform has its personality and audience, and not every one will be right for your business.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
- Instagram: Visual, creative, lifestyle-led. Great for products, behind-the-scenes content, and storytelling.
- Facebook: Community-focused. Great for local businesses, events, and groups.
- LinkedIn: Professional and B2B. Ideal for service providers, consultants, and networking.
- TikTok: Fast-paced and trend-driven. Great for brands targeting younger audiences with creative or educational content.
- Pinterest: A search engine in its own right. Ideal for interior, fashion, food, weddings, and visual inspiration.
- Bluesky: Conversation-driven. Useful for quick updates, news, and strong opinions.
You don’t have to be on all of them.
Start with one or two platforms where your target audience is already spending their time and where you feel comfortable showing up consistently.
