Part 24 – Social Media Back to Basics Series.
Running a business means your time is limited. Social media can easily become overwhelming or get pushed to the bottom of the to-do list. The good news is, with a few simple strategies, you can save time and still show up consistently and effectively online.
Here are my top time-saving tips for busy business owners:
1. Batch your content
Instead of creating one post at a time, set aside an hour or two to write and design a week’s worth of posts in one go. You’ll get into a flow and avoid the daily stress of “what do I post today?”
2. Use scheduling tools
Tools like Meta Business Suite, Buffer, Later, or Planoly let you schedule your posts in advance. That means you can line everything up at the start of the week and get on with running your business.
3. Reuse and repurpose
If a blog post or newsletter performed well, turn it into multiple social posts. A testimonial can become a graphic. A video clip can be reused as a reel, story, or even a quote graphic. Don’t reinvent the wheel every time.
4. Create templates
Design a few go-to post styles for quotes, announcements, testimonials, or product features.
5. Keep a content bank
Start a folder, notebook, or note on your phone where you jot down post ideas, caption starters, testimonials, and questions you get asked. That way, when it’s time to post, you’re not starting from scratch.
6. Know your pillars
Stick to 3-5 content themes (like tips, behind-the-scenes, offers, and reviews). It narrows your focus and helps you generate ideas faster.
7. Don’t aim for perfection
Done is better than perfect. If you spend too long overthinking every post, you’ll lose momentum. Be consistent, be helpful, and show up with purpose. That’s what matters most.
By making a few small changes to how you plan and post, social media becomes more manageable – and even enjoyable.
