Part 27 – Social Media Back to Basics Series
You’ve probably seen the phrase “link in bio” a hundred times – and for good reason. Your bio link is one of the most valuable pieces of real estate on your social media profile. It’s your chance to guide people off the app and onto something you control – your website, shop, newsletter, blog, or booking page.
But are you using it to its full potential?
Why your link in bio matters:
- It’s often the only clickable link you get on platforms like Instagram and TikTok
- It turns casual scrollers into customers, readers, or subscribers
- It gives you a simple way to track traffic and conversions from your social media content
What makes a strong link in bio?
It depends on your business goals, but a good link in bio should:
- Be relevant and up to date
- Lead to a clear next step (read, book, buy, sign up)
- Match what you’re talking about in your content
- Work well on mobile devices
You have a few options:
1. Direct link
Link to one specific page – for example, your blog, online shop, or a booking form. This works well if you have one clear priority.
2. Link in bio tools
Use tools like Linktree, Beacons, Milkshake, or the built-in Instagram link stickers to create a mini menu. This lets you share multiple links from one place, like:
- Latest blog post
- Services page
- Freebie or lead magnet
- Featured product
- Email newsletter sign-up
Some website builders (like Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress) let you create your own custom “link in bio” landing page. This keeps your audience within your brand space and helps with SEO too.
Tips to improve your link in bio:
- Make sure the design matches your brand
- Add a brief heading or intro to help users choose where to go
- Keep the list short and focused – 3 to 5 options is plenty
- Review it regularly and remove any outdated links
Your content should work hand in hand with your link strategy. If you mention something in a caption or story, make sure it’s easy to find in your bio.
If you’re not making the most of your link in bio, or you’d like help designing a branded landing page that drives results, I’d be happy to help.
